Jessamyn’s bold experimentations in a variety of media: paint, crayon, marker, and ink capture the inhibition of street art, while Susana’s rigorous approach to achieving the perfect balance of colour relies on her investigations into tonality. Maria’s luminous layered hand-cut photography collages lean into digital technologies to evoke an alter modern production of the organic world processed through non-traditional mediums.

This exhibit promises to be a truly inspiring and thought-provoking experience, we invite you to view and enjoy the talents of these artists who create maximal compositions in each carefully crafted work.

Fine Art, Fine Wine | Sommelier Led Art & Wine Pairing with Jessamyn Box

A very special experience awaits you on Friday, May 12th at Gibson Fine Art.

From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., artist-and-sommelier Jessamyn Box will lead us on a unique and curated adventure: pairing fine wines with fine art with not only her artwork but also the art of Susana Espinoza and Maria Munar!

Jessamyn, who is both a Level 4 Sommelier and an accomplished painter, has selected six vintages to be paired with two of her newest artworks, two works for Susana Espinoza and two works from Maria Munar as part of our latest exhibitions at GFA.

At the event, Jessamyn will walk us through six stations where she will spend time discussing each wine selection and her reasoning for pairing it with the chosen artwork. Guests will be invited to taste and to learn about the six different wines, as well as the corresponding paintings.

Tickets are $20; light accouterments will be served to complement the tasting.

Jessamyn completed the prestigious Wine Spirit Education Trust (W.S.E.T.), Level 4 Diploma in 2016, and then performed sommelier duties in a succession of top Vancouver restaurants, all the while advancing her dynamic and lively canvases. We are thrilled to have her back in Calgary, where she is now part of the fabulous team at J Webb, conducting tastings and sharing wine wisdom as well as working at Calgary's Major Tom restaurant as one of its esteemed sommeliers.
