As we had decided to keep our newer glass backsplash, granite stone countertops, and tile flooring, Len designed a complete retrofit of our existing bottom cabinets in order to convert them into majority large, solid hickory dovetailed soft-close drawers for ease of access. He even designed a conversion of one cabinet into a pull-out garbage and recycling storage and a conversion of our existing kitchen broom closet into a stunning furniture grade pantry cabinet.Len also designed the complete removal of our kitchen and laundry room upper cabinets and replacement with tall ceiling height cabinets with crown molding. Although our kitchen has a standard 9 foot ceiling height, since we really wanted decorative display glass cabinets atop the new upper cabinets, Len designed the new upper cabinet doors with glass at the top so that we could achieve the same look without the necessity of a separate decorative cabinet. The result is an absolutely stunning illusion of extra ceiling height with a glamorous touch that has completely transformed our home. After listening to our preference of creating extra brightness within our kitchen, with the inclusion of some warm elements, Len also suggested that we consider a two tone look of which also coordinated very well with our existing stone countertops. As such, we chose bright white upper MDF solid cabinet doors for our new upper cabinets with dark charcoal stained solid maple doors and drawer fronts for our existing lower cabinets. We also refaced our drywall, surrounding our peninsula, with matching custom dark charcoal stained solid maple facing transforming the peninsula into a stunning island.After the efficient design process, Cody came to our home to confirm the measurements and drawings in preparation for the custom production of our new drawers, cabinets, doors, facings, and mouldings. After the custom manufacture of our materials, entirely right here in Alberta, Cody returned and completed the installation of our kitchen with efficiency, care, and attention to detail. The beautiful finishing work, extra storage space, and remarkably transformed functionality of our existing kitchen footprint is astounding.The Cabinet Doctor also has dedicated third parties that will perform the electrical, plumbing, flooring, backsplash, countertops and more for a project. TODD MACLEAN: Project #1We had a 15+ year old Thermador fridge that was giving us trouble with parts that were no longer available. We did not want to spend #23,000 on a replacement combined with delivery time issues due to Covid. The cabinet space was 42" wide leaving a huge gap on both sides and the top if replaced with a standard 36" wide fridge. The kitchen cabinet installer passed Doron's name onto us. Doron was able to frame the new Bosch 36" wide fridge and add cabinets above saving us a huge amount of money. The end result was still a high end natural look to the kitchen. We have nothing but good things to say about Doron's quality of craftsmanship and his professionalism.Project #2We were looking for a new coffee table and two end tables for a family room with no success. Solid wood combined with the size and stain color we desired was impossible to find. We had used Doron previously with no apprehension about using him again. Mindy: Doron is a pleasure to work with. The two custom cabinets he made for us were exactly as I had envisioned. He listened carefully to my description of what I wanted and came up with suggestions to improve the design.One is a tall painted storage cabinet for the bathroom to fit into a tight space and the other is a wood finish TV cabinet that sits behind a sofa with the TV rising out of the cabinet when in use. The cabinets are both very well constructed and finished. The wood cabinet stain is exactly the colour that I requested. Doron was very careful to choose a wood grain that would work well with both the floors and sofa.He managed to make the TV cabinet several inches narrower that the previous quote that I had received from another cabinet maker as I needed this cabinet to take up as little room as possible between the drapes and the back of the sofa. This was the only way to install a tv in a room full of windows and it is working perfectly. They were the only company that I reached out to for a quote that physically came to my kitchen to look at the project and talk about what I was looking to do, and were $600 cheaper than the other 3 quotes I received. They gave me flexible options within my quote, and even threw in soft-close hinges free of charge. An interior designer was also provided for final colour choice free of charge to ensure I choose a product that would best fit the space. They took the time to walk through cabinet care and how to apply touch up paint if any imperfections / chips surface over time. I highly doubt they will however due to their multi-layer refinishing process. It turned my worn out and peeling wood veneer cabinets into brand new showhome quality and look for a fraction of the price of buying new cabinets. I could not be happier with their product and service. Tony was available for questions and feedback every step of the way, and was flexible with working around my schedule for the project.
