My students of all ages learn how to be creative. Improvising, jamming, playing along with recordings/videos, songwriting... such an amazing way to engage parts of the brain that we don't use enough in every day life.

This is all about my student's success, and I'm here to help! You get to deal directly with the teacher, all the time. If you need clarification, you can contact me during the week so you get the most of your music time!

Mr. Vladimir Basanov began his formal musical training at age 7, studying piano and contrabass. At the age of 16, the Bulgarian government gave him a scholarship to the Academic School of Music and Choreography affiliated to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia. He studied Ballet, Choreography and Piano and received the First Prize for piano in 1984 and 1985. Back to Bulgaria, Vladimir studied Kaval (the Bulgarian flute) with the world-renown musician Theodosii Spasov and with Nikola Ganshev and played this flute at the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sofia under the direction of conductor Yosif Gerdjikov. Vladimir was the Principal Dancer in the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Sofia for 11 years. The Bulgarian Ministry of Culture honored him with Outstanding Artistic Achievement in 1991. During his ballet career, Vladimir continued to play music. Music is his passion and he enjoyed teaching piano and guitar to a few students. Vladimir and his wife Fabienne (who paints) moved to Canada in 2001 and he danced with the Alberta Ballet until 2003.

I've taught here for 1.5 years. I've taught at many studios in Calgary and this is the only one I will teach at in town. Bryan and his teachers are all really nice, understanding, accommodating, and put people first (in front of business). This attitude is a gem and makes for a pleasant human experience. The studio may not look like much from the outside but inside reveals a beautiful, spacious seating area (other studios tend to cram every foot with merchandise) with a big TV. Bryan, the owner, himself is a musician and teacher and understands the ins and outs of being a student and teacher. The business is run with thought, care, and ethics. I wish Leroux Studios all the best!

A great range of talented and personable instructors and lovely people to work with. My daughter has been having lessons there for a while and just started learning a second instrument because she enjoys it so much. Their prices are also very reasonable. Strongly recommend!

Band Camp is a creative journey in which young musicians learn the intricacies of the music business and where they can experience a week in the life of a recording artist. Students will write their own music, learn branding/marketing, record in a professional studio, and perform for a live audience. Bowtown Music Band Camp runs in August of each year.
