COSPA (Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pools Association) operates the South Calgary Outdoor Pool. Open to all during the summer months, it’s the place to be on a hot, sunny day. For several years the MLCA has been operating the South Calgary Outdoor Pool under a contract with Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pool Association (COSPA). The latest three-year contract with COSPA expired on December 31, 2019 and the MLCA board of directors decided not to renew this agreement and will accordingly no longer operate the swimming pool. The MLCA board made this decision for two reasons: (1) Significant financial losses on pool operations over the past several years which jeopardize the ability of the MLCA to continue with other programs, events and community advocacy and (2) Strong indication from COSPA that the South Calgary Outdoor Pool will continue to operate after the MLCA withdraws as the operator. This was a difficult decision for the MLCA board to make due to our long history of operating the pool. However, we expect the South Calgary Outdoor Pool will continue to be available for use by our community after this change in operatorship.


Background on COSPA: COSPA manages 8 outdoor swimming pools on behalf of The City of Calgary for use by Calgarians during the summer. The pools are operated under contract with COSPA either by community associations or a third-party service provider.

3 years ago we resurfaced of our Tennis/Pickleball Courts and the Community has embraced the new look! After many years, we finally made the necessary improvements to our beautiful courts (and you won’t be disappointed). We now have a brand new asphalt surface, crisp lines, pickleball lines, and a great gate locking system.

Speaking of locking systems, we have recently just updated to a brand new system which allows each user to have their own code. It’s a simple process where you download an app to grant you access (or you may rent a FOB if needed). For details on the new system, please CLICK HERE

Currently we operate with a First-Come, First-Serve policy, but we are looking into a Booking System in the future. There are a few times reserved for our Seniors Pickleball group and programs.
