I have been learning Salsa, Bachata and Reggaton at Havana Social Dance Studio for about a year and a half now. When I first started, I barely knew how to do a basic salsa step. After only 4 months of practice, I already began to perform on stage with the performance group.

I didn’t start dance until my early 20s. I am a bit of an anomaly in the dance community as most professional dancers start when they are very young. I wanted to create a safe space specifically for adults based on my own dance and fitness journey. Maybe you have never danced before and you have always wanted to try, perhaps you want to stay in shape doing something that is fun, or maybe you danced when you were young and now you just want to experience the joy of movement again. At Free Spirit we foster an inclusive community where you can feel free to explore without judgment. It’s good to try new things because you never know what new and exciting things you might find out about yourself. I never knew that one dance class in Cuba over 20 years ago would lead into a passion that is now my career. I also wanted to create a space where you can experience workouts that are fun! Dance is fun! Fitness is fun!

Free Spirit Dance was named not only to represent my own journey of finding freedom to break free and become what I was called to be, but it was also named to inspire others to do the same! It’s about finding freedom from within ourselves. I am a living example that is never too late to be what you might have been! Private dance classes are for students who desire more individual attention, they provide a unique opportunity to learn one on one and are meant for students that wish to develop their dancing skills at a faster rate. You will spend the time necessary on technique and styling. At the same time you will continue to develop your ability to lead or follow.


Group Dance Classes provide you with the opportunity to meet other students with similar dancing needs.
