Yoga Teacher Training should come with a warning label: Once you begin, you may never stop. Even more accurately: Once you begin, if you are serious about teaching, do not think about stopping. The truth is, while the profession of yoga teaching has matured to a place where there are hours, credentials, and requirements for continuing education, the art of learning to teach yoga—at its core—was always meant to be a lifelong course of study. In some traditions you would teach when your teacher signified that you were ready, and after that, you would continue to refine your own training, always coming back to study more and to continue to be mentored.


Passage Studios is one of the oldest yoga studios in Calgary, Alberta.


In 2003, we boasted curtains for walls and scrap papers for sign in sheets all under the rickety roof of a Heritage building smack in the middle of Downtown YYC. Fast forward to Fall 2018 — with a little love and hard work, we expanded our space and offerings into the main floor of that Heritage building adding Spin and HIIT workouts to our roster.

The moment you enter these doors, we hope you feel at home. We hope that folks can meander up the stairs to the studio from different backgrounds, with different stories, and feel a sense of belonging and connection here. The community at Passage, from the patrons, to the staff, to the teachers, to the volunteers, are what make this space so special and so sacred. You are so welcome here.

There is a little something for everyone under this rickety roof. It’s a huge operation run lovingly by a few dedicated members of the community. Often referred to as the ‘Cheers’ of movement spaces in Calgary — everyone knows and adores everyone. Come connect to your body, your breath, your pals in the way that best serves you. We’ve got something for you.

Through a variety of yoga styles designed for all levels, we create and hold a space that invites people to connect with each other and an opportunity to be your authentic self. Our instructors encourage personal exploration, non-attachment to outcome and present moment awareness. We offer a variety of yoga classes designed for all levels: Vinyasa Flow, Yin/Yang, Hot Yoga, Kundalini, Warm Hips and Hamstrings, Warm Yin/Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Great Yoga Wall, Ashtanga Yoga. We also offer yoga teacher training, workshops, retreats and complementary wellness services.

There are lots of great things about Yoga Santosha, such as their convenient location, their beautifully decorated and peaceful studio, the great vibe, the incredibly friendly staff... but I think the most important reason why I love it is the quality of their instructors.

The staff here are amazing and they offer a good mix of classes and a variety of experiences. From desk staff to the teachers themselves, everyone goes that extra mile and provides a personal touch.

I always feel at home at Santosha and even though I am not the most social person, the slight smiles from other people practising help me feel like I belong and that I'm in the right place.
